New home of Markdale Community Church of the Nazarene
Our Story . . .

The former church building, located at 61 Toronto Street, North in Markdale, was erected in 1925 as a Gospel Workers church. In 1958 this congregation joined the church of the Nazarene, as it remains today.
In 1999, a Property Expansion Fund was created in anticipation of adjoining properties becoming available for purchase, thus providing greater options for future growth. In 2005, a house and lot immediately behind the church, on Cavan Street, was purchased and paid off 18 months later. The building was removed and currently serves as a parking area.
In 2009, the house and lot at 77 Toronto Street, North (adjoining the manse property on the north side) was purchased and fully paid off in December of 2013. It was a source of rental income for the church. In recent years it became evident that the current building was limited for meeting the needs and expectations of our modern society. Accessibility is one of the main issues, with many steps up to the sanctuary. Available space for pot luck lunches, weddings, funerals, children and youth activities limits the ability, at times, to minister to the church body and the community at large in Markdale. The possibility of adding an addition to the current building was investigated and researched, but deemed to be cost ineffective, as the original building would need to be brought to the current building code standard. Also, with current parking regulations, the expanded church property would still be lacking space. In 2019, the four existing properties were sold and a new property (formerly Four Seasons Party Rentals) located at 239 Main Street, West, Markdale, Ontario was purchased. Services started in the new facility December, 2019.
